Top 3 Overlooked Signs of Commercial Water Damage

9/9/2019 (Permalink)

Dealing with water damage is never easy, but dealing with commercial water damage can be particularly difficult.  What a commercial property owner may think is “no big deal” can quickly turn into one. To avoid commercial water damage disasters, property owners should be on the lookout for the three most common overlooked signs of commercial water damage.

Ceiling Spots

Have you ever noticed one of your ceiling tiles has turned an unsightly color but you haven’t actually  noticed any water leaking? Any sign of water damage should be a huge red flag. Just because you don’t see the water dripping from the ceiling doesn’t mean it’s not an issue.  Mold growth and structural damage are the most common effects from ceiling leaks.

Musty Smell

A musty smell in a commercial building is never a good sign. What you may think is just an unpleasant aroma often means that there is water damage lurking -  and where there is water damage, mold is soon to follow.  You should always be wary of any musty odor in your commercial property. If you suspect you have water or mold damage, don’t wait to get help.

Peeling or Cracked Paint

Though you might not be staring at the paint of your commercial building, you should be sure to look around once in a while. If you notice any unusual peeling or cracked paint, this is normally a tell-tale indicator of water damage. Often, peeling and cracked paint means there is moisture and water damage inside of your walls.

Do any of these sound like something you’ve observed in your commercial property? If so, don’t wait! Call the experts at SERVPRO of Branford / Shoreline so we can make your commercial water damage “Like it never even happened.”
